Lithuanian Air Temperature Analysis
Objective:
To analyze air temperature trends in Lithuania from 2013 to 2025 and evaluate the validity of the humorous saying: “If it rains for two days and the sun shines on the third – it must be Monday.”
Findings:
- The average annual temperature in Lithuania is increasing by approximately 0.09 °C per year, but due to significant yearly fluctuations, the long-term trend is barely noticeable.
- The saying about Monday was found to be incorrect – such a sequence occurs only 9.7% of the time, while theoretically it should be 11.9%.
- “Good day” criteria were defined based on temperature deviation, precipitation, cloudiness, wind speed, and weather conditions.
Technologies Used:
- Python (pandas, numpy, matplotlib, scipy)
- SQL (via SQLAlchemy for data extraction)
- Power BI (for visualization and interactive analysis)
